My Visit to Environ Head Office & What I Learned from Dr Des Fernandes

Skin Science, Micro needling & Why Standards Matter More Than Trends

I recently visited the Environ Skincare head office, where I spent time learning directly from Dr Des Fernandes.

After 30 years working with skin in Newark, Nottinghamshire, I don’t take opportunities like this lightly anymore.

You don’t attend simply to learn something new. You go to refine, strengthen and deepen what you already know.

Meeting the Pioneer Behind Micro needling

Dr Des Fernandes is widely recognised as the pioneer of micro needling.

But what stood out most when listening to him wasn’t just his knowledge. It was the consistency behind his thinking.

No chasing trends. No unnecessary overcomplication. Just a clear focus on helping skin function better over time.

That philosophy aligns very closely with how I work in clinic.

What Micro needling Really Comes Down To

In clinic, micro needling is never approached as a quick fix treatment.

It’s used to support:

  • Collagen stimulation

  • Skin strength

  • Texture improvement

  • Overall skin quality

But something many people don’t realise is this:

The treatment itself is only part of the result.

What happens before and after treatment matters just as much.

Why Skin Results Don’t Always Last

This is something I see often.

A client has a treatment, their skin improves, then slowly the results begin to fade.

Usually, it isn’t because the treatment failed.

More often, the skin simply isn’t being supported consistently at home.

That includes:

  • Daily SPF protection

  • Barrier support

  • Antioxidant use

  • Simple, consistent skincare routines

Healthy skin doesn’t maintain itself by accident.

What I Took Away From This Visit

What stood out most during my visit to Environ head office wasn’t a new product or trend.

It was the reminder that good skin is rarely created in one appointment.

It’s built gradually through consistency, patience and correct daily care.

That’s something I’ve always believed, but it’s reinforced every time I step back into this environment.

How This Supports My Work in Newark

Everything I bring back from professional training and industry visits feeds directly into how I support clients in Newark.

Whether I’m treating:

  • Skin texture concerns

  • Sensitivity

  • Ageing skin

  • Or supporting long-term skin maintenance

The approach remains the same:

Keep it focused. Keep it consistent. Don’t overcomplicate it.

From My Clinic

After 30 years working with skin, I’ve learnt this:

It’s not the most complicated routine that creates the best results.

It’s the most consistent one, supported by the right professional guidance.

That’s where real skin change happens.
